Some Weight Loss Tips

With the internet today, there are plenty of places where you can learn how to lose weight.  It seems like everywhere you go you’re getting the latest tip or trick that is bound to help you lose weight quickly and permanently.

For those of us that try to keep a realistic look on things, please understand that losing the weight that you’ve put on over the years is going to take time to come off.  I often get annoyed at our “I want it done yesterday” society, and weight loss is one of those areas.

If you want a good list of weight loss tips, here is a list to check out: 101 Weight Loss Tips.  If you went through this list and really applied most, if not all, of these ideas, you’d be well on your way to losing weight.  You have to realize that in order to lose weight and lose it permanently you have to make some lifestyle changes.

Does weight loss come in a pill?  Well, there are supplements that can help, but you still have to be willing to do the work.  The other benefit of doing the work is that you’ll learn how to change on the inside as well so that you don’t put the weight right back on again.  But if you use supplements to help you on your way, that’s fine with me!  There are plenty that have been proven to help.  One you might check out is Lipo-6.  Use this link for some Lipo-6 reviews.

In summary, there are a lot of things to do and learn to effectively and permanently lose weight.  If you’re willing to do the work and make some chances, your chances of success are so much higher!

Even we have the list of the tips, we still have to put effort on it!!

I find with weight loss the more guns in your arsenal the better. Eat good, lift weights, do cardio, don’t stress, take supplements… the more the better

  4. April 25th, 2008 | 2:41 pm

Why do weight loss guides always say to avoid coffee? Is it because of all the calories from adding milk, sugar, cream, and other sweeteners or is it because of the caffeine? I don’t see why having a cup or two of coffee a day is bad as long as you either drink it straight up or use something like Splenda.

  5. April 26th, 2008 | 1:31 pm

Good info. But some people like models try to loss so much weight to get size 0 that the hurt their body. This should be avoided. And for weight loss cardio is the main thing. Lifting weights is not that much of a weight loss process. Thanks.

Great list, I plan to do some weight loss this summer. Its hard to eat right when at college, but I have three months to drop some weight

  7. April 30th, 2008 | 5:22 am

Well said. I guess almost everyone now know how to lose weight, what people are not ready to do is the effort and work that goes into reducing weight.

Its all in the will power and how badly you want it :)

I agree 100%. There is a very bad perception in society that losing weight is easy, happens really fast, and takes very little work. A lot of people think all they have to do is read the latest fad diet book and follow what Atkins says.

I’ve looked at diets this way: if you don’t think you can do it for a long period of time, then don’t do it. Can you really only drink shakes for the next few years? No? Find something else that works and you’ll actually want to stick to and enjoy.

  9. April 30th, 2008 | 10:38 pm

    1. eat to live!
    2. stay away from processed foods like chips and phase out sugary drinks - go for water, it’s the best!
    3. Go for intervals and resistance training

  10. May 3rd, 2008 | 5:35 pm

I agree with you; people are often unwilling to put in the effort because of their “I want it done yesterday” mentality. In order to be successful, we need to understand that it takes commitment and a great deal of effort to achieve results.

    Great tips!

  11. May 6th, 2008 | 6:20 am

I agree. If you want results, you have to be willing to put in the time and the effort! Changes don’t happen over night — it takes a little patience! Great post!

  12. May 7th, 2008 | 9:10 am

I’ve tried several method of weight loss program but it seeemed was not successful. This was due to not consistent to follow the program. My advise is we have to stricly consisten and do commitment on all along the effort. Thanks for sharing this tips info. I am going to realize that into my weight reduction program.

Supplements should always be backed up with proper diet and regular exercise.

  14. May 18th, 2008 | 2:36 am

my simple tips for weight loss is drink more water, moderate exercise and concern on food intake.

  15. May 20th, 2008 | 10:42 am

I have tried diets, diet pills, supplements among other things. The only way I have been able to keep the weight off is to rely on myself and follow a healthy change of lifestyle. Meaning, a proper balanced diet of the four food groups, 8 hours of sleep, vitamins (as recommended by my doctor) and moderate exercise. Cardio most importantly as well as muscle toning.

  16. May 20th, 2008 | 11:27 pm

Let me throw in another vote for losing weight by exercising more and eating healthier. The people I know that have been successful at losing weight and keeping it off long term, haven’t done it through expensive pills, it’s been by their hard work and dedication. It doesn’t have to cost a penny.

    very nice tips thanks

  18. May 22nd, 2008 | 3:54 am

Those who think that pills can do wonders are fools. =) Well it might help a bit but it needs some effort as well. Exercise and keep track of your usual diet. That will be a good lifestyle

  19. May 29th, 2008 | 8:03 am

Yeah… I do really believe that this world has no ugly woman but lazy woman. But when I have to put too much efforts I will rather to give up and be an ugly woman :D

  20. May 30th, 2008 | 6:33 pm

you are right and the common sense approach of patience and take your time is probably the most important thing rather than always buy something you think will work overnight, panicing in june because you want to fit in a new bikini isn’t the best strategy

no matter what you do with pills or nutrition, I always find exercise helps so much especially for mood too, run or swim or cycle a few times a week makes a person feel so much better, men and women

  29. July 19th, 2008 | 8:10 am

Some interesting new research by a doctor has identified several species of parasites and a specific type of goopy plaque that if left in your bowels makes you fat, bloated, developing a pouch and spare-tire belly.

This is the cause of people’s obesity — fortunately, this research also reveals how to stop it. It further explains that the same cause of why people get fat is also the same reason why people eventually get sick and die prematurely — often cutting off years from their lives (not to mention the quality of their lives).

People who flush these parasites out, often report rapid weight losses up to 100 lbs or more — and without changing a single thing about their diets. Not that you need to lose anywhere near that amount… but it does prove how well it works.

Losing weight really isn’t all that hard, it’s really MUCH more of a mental struggle than a physical one. After all, your body wants to lose weight and wants to have muscle tone.

Paying attention to how bad foods make you feel immediately after eating them works best for me. Usually when I eat fatty foods, I immediately feel tired and want to take a nap, but I hate sleeping my life away. Use the way you feel as motivation, if you want to be happy and have energy, don’t eat foods that cause your body to do the exact opposite.

Losing weight takes a change in your lifestyle, and you have to tick to the change in your lifestyle to succeed in losing weight and keeping it off. The main secrets to losing weight include working out regularly. Reducing the amount that you eat. And eating a balanced amount of healthy foods including fresh vegetables, fruits, lean cuts of meat, etc. It also helps to eat small meals several times a day, instead of having 3 big meals where you stuff yourself. Doing these things is very hard in our society of eating fast food, working long hours, and watching tv or playing video games. It is not that hard to lose weight if you have the will power to stick to these basic tips but you must be very dedicated to sticking to your new lifestyle and the weight will not come off over night, it will take a while. There are many diet medications that you can purchase to help you lose weight but you can not count on these meds by themself, you must also change your lifestyle and start living healthy to really see improvements.

  34. August 17th, 2008 | 8:42 am

All excellent thoughts on good weight loss programs.

There is news of a new exercise pill that may benefit people that are not able to work out due to physical or medical situations.

These drugs AICAR and GW1516 will be newsworthy for some time I believe.

I set up a website where people can keep track of all the latest news announcements at newexercisepill.com .

Check it out when you get a chance.

    Thanks, Penny

There are so many theories on weight loss and it is interesting to think why some things work for some people and others don’t. In my case the only thing I can see that has helped me is a change of attitude and a good group of people to get out and be active with. Once I did that, everything fell into place.

  36. September 2nd, 2008 | 4:12 am

Thanks for the list. I’m going to print it out. Who says my battle with my weight can’t be fought on many fronts?

  37. September 11th, 2008 | 10:52 am

I’m with the school of though that says the best way to lose weight is to first start doing light cardio exercises like 15 minutes on the treadmill and progress up to doing 1 hour sessions 3 days per week on the elliptical machine. Cardio like this combined with eating healthy foods like chicken, fish, meats, and NOT frozen boxed foods or kraft dinner will have you keeping that weight off.

Now the trick is to keep it up for a lifetime, good luck everyone.

The only weight loss pill I’ve ever found to work was Stimerex (with Ephedra) but I would never recommend an ephedra product to anyone, basically because I don’t think it’s 100% safe. My sister was dying to know how I lost weight last year but I wouldn’t tell her what I used because she has an irregular heartbeat from time to time and I don’t think ephedra would be very good for her.

I have tried so many diet programs without success and nearly gave up, and then I bought and tried Fat Loss for Idiots. It is a no-nonsense approach that really worked for me!

  40. September 24th, 2008 | 11:12 am

Im on the same plan.. Exercise combined with eating a little healthier will have you dropping the lbs in no time…

  41. September 24th, 2008 | 5:28 pm

Yeah that’s the trick to keep it off permanently. Jumping from diet to diet only seems to get harder to take off the weight each time.

  42. September 30th, 2008 | 12:57 pm

I personally don’t think diet pills will ever be a good solution, especially in the long run. A good diet and regular exercise routine is really the only guaranteed way to keep yourself fit and healthy. You can often spend too long trying short cuts, than just doing what has been proven time and time again!

  43. October 6th, 2008 | 4:24 pm

I tried to diet for years, never had much sucess really. I just bounced around weights until i sold my car four years ago. Now i havent changed my diet dramatically or devoted time to exercise exactly. But having no car meant walking to the shops everday, and well walking to the bus in the morning and home again etc. The sum total of which means i am now more than happy with my weight, and all it took was a little bit of walking every day!

    Hello,
you’re right when you say that pills can/could help. And this is why I wrote the page in my hyperlink, trying to show how old wifes recipes based on herbal components can help you lose weight.

Problem is : to much choice, and many many scams here on the web should make people really cautious when they want to purchase diet pills.

Sometimes, I would say the best way to lose weight is to cut on fatty food and do more exercise, simply.

I’m one of those who have always struggled loosing weight. My metabolism is very slow and like a lot of other people out there I just don’t have the genetics to be skinny. I did read the 101 weight loss tips list and honestly it reminded me of alot of things I really should be doing. It’s a good thing science has advanced enough to provide legitimate supplements to help give people like me a boost. I’ve been able to overcome my genetic hurdle with lipo-6 and orovo detox. Being healthy definitely is not easy though no matter how many pills you take.

  59. January 15th, 2009 | 10:54 pm

    4. Avoid refined sugar
    31. Drink more water

Thanks for all the weight loss tips. That is a very good list with some ideals that I had not considered before.

  62. January 25th, 2009 | 2:23 pm

These are very good tips. I still believe that a step by step method works best as most people are lazy and need to be told what to do next.I don’t believe in weight loss pills.
    Thank you

  63. January 27th, 2009 | 5:35 pm

I think many people forget that not everyone can loose the weight they need to without some type of help like diet pills. Of course, people should not abuse them, but diet pills can help when used in conjunction with a doctor/excercise/etc….

  64. February 5th, 2009 | 4:33 pm

Great blog, just wish it was updated since it’s been a long time.

If any of you have heard of “IF”, Intermittent Fasting, it’s a great way to get away from the 6-meal-a-day thing. It’s more of a lifestyle than a diet, and it has given me total freedom from the propaganda of the status quo. Just google it up and you’ll find a few sites like IF Spotlight(Mike O’Donnell) and LeanGains(Martin Berkhan’s site)

  72. April 4th, 2009 | 4:13 am

I counted my calories and only ate 1500 a day. Its not the answer for long term but if you do it, i guarantee you will lose weight, and fast. make it as balanced as possible eating protien. I lost 30lbs in 6.5weeks! like i said, if you count and dont cheat, you will lose weight! lots!

  77. May 10th, 2009 | 10:28 pm

oh, yes….eat low calorie food..no juice, no regular soda, no candy, low on carbs…it all helps keep the calories low, but still being able to actually eat food!

It’s great to see some sensible information on the internet for a change.

Far too much weight loss information on the net concentrates on metabolism rather than nutrition, and when I have the ‘hard gainers’ who want to learn how to get big muscles fast, they look at me like I’m an idiot when I scrap their diet and reform their nutritional input.

Its amazing at how quickly they start to lose weight and gain lean mass - just because of a simple thing like nutrition!

Regardless of what the slick weight loss product marketing says, in my opinion, the two main (and often most overlooked) factors of successful weight loss are:

    1)Metabolism
    2)Mindset

Boosting your metabolism is the master key to successful weight loss. My 3 top tips for boosting your metabolism are:

1)Weight training - lean muscle will enable your body to naturally burn more calories.
2)Eat little and often - Aim for 5-6 smaller meals each day. This will leave your metabolism with no choice but to speed up to cope with the regualr eating pattern.
3)Variety - Eat a variety of foods. Not only will this help to keep you on track with your weight loss, but it’s also a lot healthier than sticking to a set diet.

And on to the next point - mind set. If you don’t beleive you can do it, you just won’t do it. Ever heard the famous quote “Whether you think you can or you can’t - you’re right”. Try visualising yourself slim. Picture how much happier and confident you’ll be when you reach your goal. Do this everyday for 21 days and see how you get on :-)

Thanks for listening, don’t ever give up!

    Linda

PS. Winners never quit, quitters never win.

I know the good way that How To Lose Weight By 5 Best Ways, keep trying trying…

  98. September 24th, 2009 | 6:27 am

I began my current weight loss journey on 8/3/09 and as of today have lost 21 pounds. I’m trying to lose 100. I’ve found that starting my blog and sharing the journey with others has helped with my motivation and accountability.

For me, I’ve decided that smaller portions, more exercise and more water will make the weight come off.

I agree with another commenter that metabolism and mindset have a great deal to do with weightloss. It’s ironic, though, how our metabolism is not a “set it and forget it” switch that we can fine-tune and then assume it will always work the same way. That’s the frustrating part for me… knowing that if I routinely eat less, my mind will decide that I only need 1400 calories and then adjust the metabolism accordingly.

This is such a great resource that you are providing and you give it away for free. I love seeing websites that understand the value of providing a quality resource for free. It’s the old what goes around comes around routine. Did you acquired lots of links and I see lots of trackbacks ???

I agree that people need to be more patient when it comes to weight loss, it takes some difficult lifestyle changes and a lot of hard work. I had to change my diet because I was overweight and suffered from chronic indigestion and acid reflux, and it took some time but it was worth the effort. Thanks for the links to more resources.

Losing weight and cutting fat begins with how you think about what you eat and figuring out what the motivation for eating it is. In the long run a balanced healthy lifestyle is the only way to maintain your ideal weight. Get back to basics, eat right and exercise.

Great tips. You’re absolutely right that a healthy diet and regular exercise are a must if you want to be successful in your slimming efforts. Even if you’re using supplements to speed up the process, regular exercise and healthy eating habits are a must!

One of the best ways to get in better shape and improve your overall health is to eat a diet of real, whole foods. The western world eats way too much processed food and a lot of the stuff in processed and packaged foods are complex chemicals that your body doesn’t know how to process. One of the single best things you can do to melt off your belly fat is to change your diet to include more real meats, vegetables and whole grains while reducing boxed and processed foods. Making a simple diet change like this will allow you to lose belly fat without starving yourself.

You have to keep at it. There is no quick fix that takes weight off and keeps it off.
Find an exercise and diet program you enjoy and you have a change in lifestyle.

Marie and I very much enjoyed the suggestions for losing weight.

The ones that require changing diet would be the easiest for us, seeing as how we are older older Americans whose “active” lives are pretty much over.

On the other hand, some would say that we are just not that old, or that we shouldn’t let things like arthritis and walkers get in our way.

And, we do try to walk gingerly out in the back yard occasionally.

I even get aggressive when we play bridge.

You’d be surprised the extra effort it take to deal a bridge hand if one is looking to “feel the pain.”

Especially when attempting to toss the cards all the way across the table, you can feel it in the wrists. The next morning after a stimulating night of bridge, a player who has given it his or her all can really tell in the way the wrist feels that the little muscles of the wrist appreciate the workout. And, the best part is that, like most exercises, the benefit lasts as much as six weeks.

I can tell you that we make sure to schedule another bridge game before that six weeks runs out.

    Thanks again for the suggestions.

We will certainly do as many of them as we can.

I’m not sure pills are necessary unless you’re a dedicated body builder. Eat well and exercise, that should do the trick.
