Health News — Hour of daily exercise cuts bowel cancer risk

Here’s another reason to keep exercising: it may reduce your chances for contracting some really nasty cancers! According to the article, colon and rectal cancer are most common in developed countries. That would apparently make sense since we sit around so much and they probably don’t! Anyway, it makes an interesting read and hopefully will give you some good motivation to get out there and start working out or to at least keep going!

Article:
Whether is it jogging around the park, pumping iron or swimming, an hour of vigorous exercise a day can lower the risk of bowel cancer, a study said on Monday. Even cleaning the house, or two hours of less strenuous activity can make a difference, according to the study of more than 413,000 people in 10 European countries.

I definitely believe in exercise. My wife and I talk about this frequently: her parents both “over eat” and this tendency has caused problems in the families mindset overall. Exercise is a great way to fight the urge to overeat. One of the ways I exercise is through clogging - a form of percussive dance similar to tap. Not only is clogging great for blood pressure and increasing metabolism, but it can also take you all over the world. Thanks for your dedication to exercise and nutrition.

Cancer is a group of diseases caused by abnormalities in the material of cells. Although many cancers are due to the effects of smoking, radiation and chemical agents, many are genetic, and still others have no known causes. Most cancers can now be treated, and some cured, depending upon the stage, location and type. Cancer testing can help you screen for cancer as a first line of defense.

Anything that can stop us from having cancer is welcome. I think that people should exercise anyway as there are so many good reasons that they should.

But no body has the time that is the problem. I did not exercise much until my brother talked me into it.

I am very lazy when it comes to exercise. I dont have a fixed regime or anything. I take long walks at times and sometimes take a few weights.

But now that you have mentioned that it can help in the prevention of cancer it has got me interested as cancer is something that I fear very much.

Exercise is something that we all know can do a lot of help! And this new news is something that will even more boost the image of exercise.

I think that there are so many ways that we can do exercise and that combined with the point that it is free and we have to depend only on ourselves is the fact that rocks!

Anything that can help me from not getting cancer is welcome. I have lost two very dear relatives because of cancer and I have willed myself since then to gather as much information as possible and let people know. Your advice is sound. Thank you.
