Can You Get a Good Workout at Home?

home gym by bmof, flickr.comI think this is a common question out there. I’m not sure who started it, but I think we have all heard that you can’t get as good of a workout at home as you can at the gym. In some senses, I completely agree with this statement. The gym will usually give you a better variety of exercises, and you don’t have to worry about making space for all that equipment in your basement!

With that being said, there are also ways that you can still get a great workout at home. One big benefit to working out at home is convenience. If you live 20 minutes from the gym you may find it hard motivating yourself to go. But if you can walk downstairs and get your workout, that makes it a lot easier. But don’t let that convenience make you lazy in doing it ;-)!

I read a really good article from Sean Nalewanyi today about this exact topic. Rather than me just going over the same points, here is a link to his article so you can read it for yourself: Muscle-Building Success From Home: Can It Be Done?

I agree that you can have a good workout at home. My wife and I created this home gym and we have fun exercising every morning.

Totally, I think the answer is yes. The issue for me is space. I actually live in an apartment and have an entire room taken up by my weight bench. Ughh…looking forward to a garage…

    technogeek,
Yeah, space can be one of the most limiting parts of working out at home. That’s one reason why I still think going to the gym is great, but there is still plenty that you can do at home. I hope you get a garage sooner rather than later!

I workout at home too and find I get just as good a workout as going to the gym. I find that it takes a bit more motivation and dedication to actually exercise at home tho.

I think it takes a lot of will power and structure to your day to work out at home…since I’m working at home I can workout all throughout the day. Doing curls in between online work helps wake you up and make you more productive, not to mention ripped up.

I don’t workout at all; why ? I just don’t need it :D, but if I’ll workout I’ll do it in a gim, I just don’t have space at home for workout.

Yes, you can get good workout also at home. Just buy barbells and a bench and you can train every muscles in your body. This is cheap and espacially good for those living far away from a gym.
