I've been an advid runner for over 30 years and it was starting to take its toll. I purchased an elliptical trainer and I really notice that it does not put as much strain on my joints, particularly my knees. I have a model you can incline and the combination of dual action and raising the incline gives me a serious cardio workout.

All of these various Cardio Machines that you mentioned, treadmills, elliptical trainer, stationary bike, stair climber, etc., are all great - especially during the winter months when the weather is bad. However, more people need to perform their cardio workouts outside when possible - for the additional benefits from the sun along with other mood lifters that occur when a person gets out in nature.
