Summer is Almost Here…

Are you ready for it? Summer is the time that everyone likes to look their best. And why not? It’s the only time of year that most of us actually let our skin see the sun! So what can you do to get ready for the summer season? Well, again that depends on your goals. But here are what most people will be shooting for:

Lose that extra weight and get shredded! In other words look good in that swim suit!

So if that’s you’re goal, we encourage you to set a date for your goal now and work hard to attain it. Anything can happen when you really put your mind to it. Good luck!

Common Exercises People Do Wrong

Here is a good article that we found on MSN Health that talks about several exercises that a lot of people are doing wrong. Form is a very important thing when you’re working out for several reasons. One is that it makes sure that you’re working the right muscles. Another is so that you aren’t making your body move in a way that it wasn’t intended to. Do things the right way and you’re much less likely to injure yourself.

Lower Your Body Fat % to See Your Abs

One of the big questions out there is how do I get a six-pack. Simply put, you could have the most developed, best looking abs in the world but if you have too much fat covering them up you won’t know it (and neither will anyone else!). So the key to having a great six-pack is losing enough of your body fat percentage that your abs are actually visible. You’ll probably have to be at least in the single digits (under 10%) for your abs to actually be visible, but this varies a bit per person. So keep training, lost that body fat and start to look ripped!

Time For Another Checkup!

Anybody in the business world right now is setting their sites on how they did in the first quarter and looking forward to the second quarter. Have you ever considered doing the same thing for your health and fitness goals? We all talk about New Year’s resolutions, but do you ever check up on them? Setting quarterly (3 month) goals is a great way to keep up on how you’re doing and if you’re coming close to reaching your yearly (New Year’s resolution) goals.

Building a Good Base

A few weeks ago we left a post about using the big 3 lifts in your workout. Today we want to talk about building a base strength and mass level before moving on the more advanced exercises and workouts.

Its very important that you build a solid foundation before you start to look like the guys and girls in the magazines. This could be considered the first stage of your development. In his book The New Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding, Arnold talks about how the basic level of development should take a couple of years. Of course we all would like to see great results a lot sooner than this, but sometimes that just isn’t reasonable. So be realistic with yourself and take the necessary time to really develop a good base, a good foundation to what you’re trying to accomplish.

As part of your foundation training make sure that you are using plenty of compound movements, like with the big 3. For more information or to get a good specific workout, check out Arnold’s book.
